Call for papers for publication in special issue of IPSR/RISP
1st of January, 2026 to 8 February, 2026
The editors of the Italian Political Science Review issue a call for papers for potential publication in a Special Issue of the journal, focusing on “The Comparative Politics of Gender”, guest-edited by Professors Elisabetta De Giorgi, University of Trieste, and Karen Beckwith, Case Western Reserve University. The guest editors are curious about expanding understanding of how the politics of gender works across countries and across categories of race, ethnicity, class, religion, among other politically relevant identities, as well as how such categories intersect with gender in terms of political empowerment and/or disadvantage. They encourage abstracts concerning all countries and regions of the world and, moreover, they welcome a range of methodologies.
A list of potential topics, by no means exhaustive, follows:
- Women, gender and party politics
- Gendered executive leadership
- Gender frames, masculinity, and political representation
- Violence, war and gender
- Electoral systems and women’s parliamentary representation, also in the context of populism
- The electoral gender gap across time and country
- Feminist and women’s movements and the rise of populist parties
The abstract of the paper (500 to 1.000 words) should be submitted by February 8, 2026 to risp@sisp.it
