The Queer Caucus of the AAIS is organizing an interdisciplinary study day in November 2023 devoted to the critical analysis of trans* issues within the Italian socio-cultural and political context. The first session will explore the history of Italian trans* communities. The second part of the study day will focus on current trans* Italian scholarship and activism.

Emerging and affirmed scholars as well as PhD students and activists are invited to send proposals focusing on any aspect of Italian trans* studies - trans* activism, transfeminism, trans* migration, stigmatization, translating trans*, transliteracies, trans*nationalism, radical critique of power systems, trans* care, trans* representations, trans* pedagogies, trans* history, trans* politics, trans* theory, trans* health, trans* and race, trans* parenting, trans* and disability, trans* and neurodiversity, trans* and educational institutions, trans* memory, trans* elders, trans* studies in academia, etc.

Please, send an abstract (either in English or Italian) of about 250-300 words, including title, bibliography, and a short bio with affiliation to aaisqueerstudiescaucus@gmail.com.
