Call for Papers: Transnational Queer and Feminist Archives
We are excited to share a new opportunity for scholars, artists, and activists. Contributions for a proposed collection titled "Transnational Queer and Feminist Archives" is a project that addresses the urgent need to preserve queer and feminist cultural memory amidst radical political shifts worldwide. The collection aims to showcase strategies for building transnational solidarities and innovative ways of archiving activist histories. Rutgers University Press has already expressed interest in reviewing this collection.
Submissions may explore, but are not limited to:
- Community archives and transnational solidarity.
- The role of digital preservation and "minimal computing" (Global South models).
- Decolonizing approaches and Indigenous data governance (CARE principles).
- Non-institutional strategies used by artists and activists.
- The limitations of international organizations like UNESCO in this field.
Abstract Submission Deadline: Thursday, April 30, 2026 (17:00 PST).
The editors are looking for two types of contributions:
- Chapters (Max 5,000 words): Academic papers advancing clear arguments supported by research. Abstracts should be 300–500 words.
- Features (500–1,000 words + image): Non-academic showcases for artists, community groups, or archives focusing on practical challenges and solutions. Abstracts should be 200 words plus a description of supplementary material.
