Masculinities and Gender-based violence

The magazine Sage Journals has recently published three interesting articles dedicated to the theme of gender-based violence, which is placed in close dialogue with the gender experience experienced by men protagonists of this type of violence.

 

The first article, entitled Men Have Gender and Women Are People: A Structural Approach to Gender and Violence, reveals the low presence in the academic world of approaches and teachings that take into account the category of gender in explaining and conceptualizing the phenomenon of violence. Starting from this awareness, the goal is to show the extent to which the relationship between violence and the patriarchal system is structural and constitutive of our societies. Read here.

The second article, Positive Masculinities and Gender-Based Violence Educational Interventions Among Young People: A Systematic Review, focuses on the concept of hegemonic masculinity and tries to identify positive masculinity to counteract gender-based violence. Read here.

The third and final article, What About the Men? A Critical Review of Men’s Experiences of Intimate Partner Violence, is dedicated to analyzing intimate and domestic violence from men’s perspective. Read here.
