Who is afraid of Gender ?

The Center for Gender Studies of the University of Cambridge recently announced that it has made available on YouTube the lecture held on April 26 by professor and writer Judith Butler on the theme of resistance and fears in our societies against of gender issues.

Judith Butler is an American post-structuralist philosopher, a central figure of feminist and queer reflections in the academic world of the recent decades. During her career, she was mainly involved in political philosophy, ethics, literary theory, feminism and queer theory. Since 1993 she's teaching at the University of Berkeley, where she directs the program of critical theory. Her best-known works, Gender Trouble and Bodies That Matter, re-discuss the notion of gender and develop the innovative theory of gender performativity, which today plays a prominent role in feminist and queer thinking.
