Exhibition "What Were You Wearing?" (Com'eri vestita?)
The touring exhibition ‘What Were You Wearing?’, organized by the Milan anti-violence centre Cerchi d'Acqua, will be hosted in Piazzola sul Brenta from 5 to 13 October. The installation, inspired by the amerincan one (the original) ‘What Were You Wearing?’ explores the topic of sexual violence, seeks to dismantle one of the most common and harmful stereotypes: clothing can justify violence. Through the symbolic display of the clothes worn by the survivors at the time of the attack, the exhibition emphasises how the question ‘What were you wearing?’ deflects attention away from the responsibility of the aggressor, implicitly implying guilt in the victim. The clothes on display are accompanied by the testimonies of the victims, offering a painful and touching insight into their experiences. This combination of storytelling and everyday objects aims to stir consciences and promote cultural change.
It will be possible to visit the exhibition on the following days and times:
Mondays and Wednesdays, 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
