IGIABA SCEGO: writing history, writing stories. A reflection on decolonial literature

Monday, July 7, 2025, at 6:00 PM, in Room 1 at Beato Pellegrino, on the occasion of the International Summer School ENTANGLEMENTS, a high-level seminar with writer Igiaba Scego will take place. This opening event will be open to the public.

From July 7 to 11, 2025, the Department of Linguistic and Literary Studies will offer an immersive cultural experience focused on post- and decolonial futures and the most recent literary futurisms (Afrofuturism, Africanfuturism, Indigenous futurisms, Latin American futurisms), fostering dialogue with exceptional international guests.

The 2025 edition looks ahead to the postcolonialism of the future: a way of thinking that goes beyond colonial trajectories of world organization; that envisions alternative ways of living on the planet—ways we cannot yet fully foresee, but that must be created, also through literary imagination.
A fair, sustainable, and livable future must necessarily be postcolonial.
