The City of Female Artists: Public Art by Women in Padova

24.09.2026

On September 24, Irecoop organizes the event The Public Art by Women in the city of Padova.  When you walk around Padova, how many works of art signed by women do you come across? But above all, what story do they tell us? Do they tell a free story?

The day begins with these questions as a starting point to explore three public art projects created by women artists in the city: Liliana Moro’s site specific installation at the Liviano Library, part of Silenzi Eloquenti, the University of Padova’s contemporary art collection, and works by Elena Mazzi and Caterina Morigi in the station area, created through Progetto Giovani, the City of Padova’s youth policy service.

By taking a closer look at these works, we'll reflect together on a simple but often invisible question: what changes in urban space (and in the way we experience it) when women artists inhabit it with their work? Who gets the opportunity to create public art, and who gets to experience it?
