Overcoming (In)visible Barriers: Gender, Work and Discrimination

Frontiers in Sociology invites submissions for the special issue “Overcoming (In)visible Barriers: Gender, Work and Discrimination”, edited by Yvonne Ehrstein (Aberystwyth University), Stefano Maiani (Heriot-Watt University), and Cláudia Andrade (Polytechnical Institute of Coimbra).
This issue addresses persistent gender-based inequalities in the workplace, focusing on both overt and subtle forms of discrimination. Contributions are encouraged from critical feminist and transdisciplinary perspectives, using theoretical, qualitative, or quantitative approaches.
Suggested Topics Include:
- Everyday experiences of subtle or overt workplace discrimination
- Impacts on career progression and health
- Motherhood, gender identity, and organizational bias
- Social media and collective responses (#MeToo, etc.)
- Corporate policies and structural interventions
- Strategies for actionable change in organizations

Submissions will be peer-reviewed for publication in Frontiers in Sociology, indexed in Web of Science and Scopus.
